Erling Haaland was not always a super-rich football superstar and revealed how he used to steal buns when he was younger to keep a full belly

Manchester City’s Erling Haaland recently revealed the joys of his mischievous youth, recalling a time in his early days when he used to make away with buns from a bakery.

Haaland recollects buns-stealing years.

The Norwegian international was visiting his first-ever club side, FK Bryne, in Norway as part of a video documentary that aired on Sky Sports when he made the incriminating revelation on a tour of his hometown.

Haaland, who spent nine years in Bryne’s academy, was seen driving around his hometown and came across the familiar sight of a bakery, which brought up cherished memories from when he was still a child.

As he drove up to the bakery, Haaland reminisced about his buns stealing days, saying, “Just up ahead is a bakery. That's where I used to steal buns. I found a room where they threw out incorrectly manufactured buns. We just went in there.”

How Haaland has gone from dumpster-diving to trophy-hunting

Haaland is currently one of the Premier League’s top earners and reportedly took home £800,000 per week, including base salary and bonuses, from a record-breaking season.

He luckily does not need to go dumpster diving for buns anymore, but he still had fun remembering the days when he did.

Since leaving Bryne, Haaland has gone on to star for RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Manchester City, earning a reputation as one of the best players on the planet.

He is one of the favourites to win the 2023 Ballon d’Or, alongside Argentine World Cup winner Lionel Messi, and will certainly be giving the Inter Miami man a run for his money.
