Manchester United's Argentine defender Lisandro Martinez has successfully undergone surgery on broken metatarsal.
Lisandro Martinez sustained a broken metatarsal against Sevilla in the Europa League quarter-final and has now undergone successful surgery.
Manchester United's Martinez undergoes successful surgery
He has been ruled out for the rest of the season as the recovery time for an injury of this nature is usually around seven to eight weeks.
Martinez has been one of United’s best players this season following his arrival from Ajax in the summer and a big part of why the Red Devils are likely to finish the season in the top four.
His absence for the remainder of the season will be a blow to a team also missing the other starting centre-back, Raphael Varane through injury.
Martinez wrote on Instagram last week:
"Not the way I imagined what's been a very special season would end, but sometimes we face obstacles along the way that we have to overcome to make us stronger and we learn from them.
"I know that I'll be back very soon to go for more. 'In the meantime, I'll continue to support all my teammates to achieve our objectives."

United to find defensive solutions
United boss Erik ten Hag will go into the final 11-13 games of the season with just Harry Maguire and Victor Lindelof as senior fit defenders with Luke Shaw able to slot into the centre, if required.
Martinez has made 45 appearances for Manchester United this season, scoring 1 goal and he was also pivotal for Argentina in last year's World Cup triumph in Qatar.
