Andre Onana's spate of blunders continued in the Europa League, prompting criticism from Manchester United legend.

Manchester United legend Paul Scholes took swipe at Andre Onana after the goalkeeper produced two howlers against Lyon in the Europa League.

The former Inter Milan shot-stopper was at fault for both goals conceded by the Red Devils.

The two blunders denied United the away advantage, which meant they were forced to settle for a 2-2 draw in France.

In attempting to handle what turned out to be the final kick of the match in the 95th minute, Onana spilled Georges Mikautadze's shot which allowed Rayan Cherki to tap home the rebound.

Scholes was critical of Onana telling the Daily Mail that the Cameroonian could have done better. "I think he was more so at fault for the first, a huge mistake, a little harder but he has to do better than that."

Scholes further credited Lyon for their fine display after creating countless chances but tipped the Red Devils to maximize on the home advantage to sail to the next round.

"On the whole it is the right result. Lyon played the better football and created more opportunities, but after scoring so late United will be disappointed and they are in a good position at home, so they should still be big favourites but they will have to improve."

Andre Onana's horrendous blunder

Onana was at fault for Lyon's opener, gifting the home side the lead as he flapped at a cross that had evaded attackers in the middle, and saw the ball bounce over him and into the goal.

Onana's errors comes in the wake of a vicious put down by former Red Devils midfielder Nemanja Matic, who banded him as 'one of the worst goalkeepers' in the club's history ahead of the Europe League clash between United and Lyon.

The feud began with Onana claiming that United are 'better than' their opponents, with Matic, who left Old Trafford in 2022, hitting back with his brutal reply about him being worse than most Red Devils goalkeepers.

Onana, who was jeered by the home fans, would have been hoping to prove the Serbian wrong. Instead, he was most culpable for Thiago Almada's opener after 25 minutes.
