Manchester United have been found guilty by UEFA and have been fined for breaking financial fair play rules.

It's believed that the FFP regulations from the past and earlier are what led to Man United's recent sanction.

The Red Devils were fined a £260,000 punishment for a small break-even deficit which was cited by UEFA.

The club has emphasised that neither the fine nor the punishment would have an impact on the spending plan for the upcoming summer transfer window.

Man United official statement

Shortly after the Red Devils were issued a fine by UEFA, a statement was released on their official website which was related to the issue.

United have released a statement as reported by the Sun, that reads, "This reflected a change in the way that Uefa adjusted for COVID-19 losses during the 2022 reporting period, which allowed us to recognise only €15m (£12.8m) of the €281m (£240m) of revenues lost due to the pandemic."

The club has come out to say that this fine was due to the previous adjustment made by UEFA during the COVID-19 period.

Man United not the only club fined

Several football clubs have also fallen victim to UEFA's recent fine as they also stand to face some punishments.

According to the Sun, the clubs Konyaspor in Turkey and Apoel in Cyprus were also fined for the deficiencies, making United, not the only team to receive a penalty.

Barcelona was also hit with a £430k fine for "incorrectly declaring, in the financial year 2022, gains on disposal of intangible assets (other than player transactions) which are not a significant income under the regulations."

Manchester United have started their preparations for next season as they defeated Leeds United 2-0 in their first preseason game.
