According to reports, Bayern Munich have turned down Manchester United's initial offer for defender Benjamin Pavard.

Manchester United are currently in the transfer market for a defender as a replacement for West Ham-bound Harry Maguire.

Erik Ten Hag has identified the French international as a good fit for his team and have made an offer for him.

Man United keen on Pavard

According to Sky Germany, United had submitted an official proposal to sign the Frenchman, who had been on Erik ten Hag's shortlist, but Bayern had rejected it.

United and Pavard have already spoken on a possible transfer but the Red Devils are yet to see their offer accepted.

Pavard has one year left on his current contract, thus Bayern may decide to cash in on a player who wants to transfer in an effort to keep him from leaving for nothing next summer.

According to Daily Mail, the player has already agreed to personal terms ahead of a prospective transfer and is open to moving to Old Trafford.

However, Thomas Tuchel is keen on keeping Pavard as his team looks to start their title challenge next week.

The Frenchman has achieved great success in Bavaria, taking home four German championships, a Champions League and one German Cup, among other notable achievements.
