Manchester United are reportedly prepared to trigger the release clause of a Spanish star.
Manchester United are reportedly evaluating a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi as they look to bolster their midfield ahead of next season.
The 25-year-old has been a stalwart in the midfield for La Real in LALIGA and their consecutive European football outings. He also put up a commendable showing in the European Championship final when he came on at halftime to replace Rodri, reminding suitors of his quality.

Arsenal transfer news: Mikel Arteta has 3-man shortlist to help Declan Rice
The Gunners boss is reportedly considering three players to add depth to his midfield.
Zubimendi has been of long-term interest to Premier League clubs, with Arsenal prepared to sign him last summer. However, he opted to continue at Real Sociedad and inherit Asier Illaramendi’s legendary number 4 jersey.
Manchester United's interest
Zubimendi’s €50 million release clause is still viable, and the Red Devils are reportedly considering the option.
According to talkSPORT, the three-time Champions League winners have underlined the defensive midfield position as one where recruitment is required and although they have initiated contacts with Uruguayan defender Manuel Ugarte, they are still evaluating the options on the market.
Zubimendi is one such option, and the Red Devils hierarchy is said to regard him highly. Manchester United are also keeping the Sofyan Amrabat option open, despite communicating their unwillingness to trigger the €20 million purchase option that accompanied his loan deal from last season.
It remains to be seen if the midfielder will be open to the move, as he has previously turned down a Premier League club to remain at his boyhood club.
