10. Andy Cole – The £8.3 Million Impact

Andy Cole, prised from Newcastle in January 1995 for £8.3 million, made an immediate impact at United, scoring 121 goals over seven trophy-laden years. 

Post-retirement, Cole has been active in coaching, punditry, and charity work, notably with the Andy Cole Fund for Kidney Research UK.

9. Nemanja Vidic‎ – The Defensive Rock

Nemanja Vidic, acquired for £9.1 million, fortified United's defence from 2005. His partnership with Rio Ferdinand is legendary, contributing to 16 trophy wins.

 Post-football, Vidic has pursued education, enrolling in UEFA’s Executive Master for International Players. He expressed his desire to impact football "from the perspective of the fans and the players.”

8. Diego Forlan – The Iconic Moments

Diego Forlan, a £9.5 million signing, may not have consistently shined for United but left with iconic moments, like his brace against Liverpool. He ventured into coaching post-retirement, with stints at Uruguayan clubs Penarol and Atenas.

7. Wilfried Zaha – The Crystal Palace Legend

Wilfried Zaha, who moved for £10.2 million, found it tough at United but blossomed at Crystal Palace, becoming one of their greatest. Now at Galatasaray, he recently scored against United in the Champions League, marking a historic win.

6. Odion Ighalo – The £10.4 Million Loan

United's sixth most expensive January deal was Odion Ighalo's loan in 2020, costing £10.4 million. His stint included useful goals in cup competitions. He admitted to OmaSportsTV that his move to the Saudi Pro League was financially motivated: "I’ve played for passion all my life, now it’s for money."

5. Louis Saha – The Business Ventures

Louis Saha signed for £15.2 million, won four trophies and scored 42 goals at United. He's now ventured into punditry and business, founding AxisStars, a network for pro athletes and entertainers.
