The Chilean international has only made 10 appearances since joining the club in August 2022.

Brian Mandela’s teammate Marcelo Allende is highly ‘unlikely’ to remain at Mamelodi Sundowns beyond the end of the current campaign.

The Chilean international has been receiving criticism from a section of the club officials who feel he is no longer needed due to his form dip.

Allende arrived at the club in August 2022 and has since made only ten appearances for the Brazilians in all competitions despite the club having paid an estimated fee of $3 million to get his signature.

“A player like Saavedra should add value to the club. You cannot be an import but there is nothing that you add to the club,” said a source that was quoted by South African publication Phakaathi on Tuesday.

"Some people at the club want him to stay, such as the coach, but the management do not want to invest in a player who does not produce the goods because these foreign players don’t come cheap at all.”

Allende joined Sundowns from Uruguayan Primera Division side Montevideo City Torque on a five-year contract.

The 24-year-old had been with Torque for two seasons and scored 15 goals from 77 games as they finished fourth in the Uruguayan League.

The midfielder has one cap for Chile's national team and attended trials at English Premier League side Arsenal.

He even trained with the Gunners' first team players, and they nicknamed him "Chile" after they were left dazzled by his impressive qualities.

The player was one of the FIFA Under-17 World Cup stars in 2015, where he captained the side, scoring twice in four games.
