The marauding wingback believes the CAF competition is a bigger platform to market himself and he is motivated to do that.
Rivers United wing-back, Ebube Duru, is looking forward to taking his form in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, to the CAF Confederation Cup, CAF.
Duru, who listed former Real Madrid star Marcelo, and Patrice Evra, Manchester United legend, as his role models, has been one of the standout performers for the Rivers Stateside and in the football league this season.
He has scored three goals from his wing-back position in six matches for the Pride of Rivers this season in the 2023 abridged campaign.
Duru looks to market himself in CAFCC
Ahead of their first game in the group stage of CAF’s second-tier competition, the talented Super Eagles invitee is hoping to take full advantage of the bigger platform.
Duru and his teammates are guests this Sunday to Diablea Noirs in Brazzaville, Congo, in the first game of the group stage in Group B.
Ahead of the all-important encounter, the Super Eagle noted that he is hoping to continue the fine form that has seen him score three goals in just six matches in the NPFL this season.
“In the CAFCL (qualifiers), I got a goal against Watanga and two goals against Al Nasr in the CAFCC qualifiers,” Duru recounted.
“I think playing more in the domestic league, adding more goals and trying to do my best every game (will) push me to do more in the CAFCC because you are you know it is a bigger platform to market yourself.”
CAFCC won't be different
Having scored three goals so far this season, two of them remarkable free kicks, Duru is one of the players Rivers United and their fans are looking up to fire them to glory in the continent.
With his incredible form at home for the Nigerian champions, Duru believes that the continental competition won't be any different for him.
“I know with the form I am now and with more training, dedication and determination, I know going to play in the CAFCC won't be different just to push more and have the will and zeal,” he added.
“So, definitely, I know I am going to do well in our game (against Diables Noirs).”
