Maroons FC picked up maximum points at home with a convincing 2-0 win over Arua Hill on Tuesday afternoon at the Luzira Prison grounds.

Midfielder Abel Etrude and substitute Darlous Ojok scored in either half for the home side in the entertaining encounter.

Etrude opened the scoring just six minutes after kickoff, pouncing on a poorly cleared ball in the Arua Hill box before he slotted slot home to send the home crowd into wild celebrations.

It was Etrude’s first goal since his return to Maroons in the January transfer window.

The visitors tried to level matters in the second half, first with Innocent Media, but his effort went agonizingly past the post.

Isaac Ogwang also came close to levelling matters, but his lob over Simon Tamale went over the bar.

Maroons kept pushing, and their efforts paid off in the 72nd minute when Fred Amaku's run on the flank and later a perfect cross found Ojok, who slotted home to double the hosts’ lead.

Mohammed Ssenfuma’s charges were able to see out the remaining minutes to earn a sixth win of the current campaign.

The prisons-based side now move to sixth position on 25 points after 18 games.

Arua Hill, meanwhile, sits three spots below, two points adrift of Maroons FC.

In the earlier game played in Lira, SC Villa picked up a 1-0 win over BUL FC.

The win takes the Jogoos to 34 points, one behind table leaders KCCA FC, although the former has two games in hand.
