The club’s chairman Ronald Barente says that their long-term strategy is to ensure the club grooms future youngsters to avoid spending a lot of funds in the transfer market.

New BUL FC coach Simeone Masaba has been tasked to continue with the project started by his predecessor Alex Isabirye and that includes grooming junior team youngsters and promoting them to the senior team.

The club’s chairman Ronald Barente says that their long-term strategy is to ensure the club grooms future youngsters to avoid spending a lot of funds in the transfer market.

“Isabirye gave us at least 85 percent of what we wanted from him as part of our plan,” Barente explained to Pulse Sports.

“What is remaining in the strategic plan is to focus on the U-15 and U-20 to build a team that will feed us in the next three years and beyond so, whoever takes over has to continue with that.

“We want to stop this issue of buying players but instead promote internally,” Barente stressed.

Masaba was handed the job on an interim basis as the club assesses his abilities until the end of the season.

Under Isabirye, several youngsters who were part of the 2018/19 FUFA Junior League winners earned a promotion and went on to form the cog of the team that won the Uganda cup last year.

They include winger Hillary Onek, Reagan Kalyowa, Owen Mukisa, Martin Aprem and Simon Oketch. The latter was sold to Ethiopia after the CAF Confederations Cup.

This season, the coach borrowed the services of Richard Okello and Innocent Rwothomio from the junior side of the team.
