Coach Matano is far from being satisfied with his team's performance this season.
Tusker FC head coach Robert Matano has noted that the 2-1 win over Mathare United can inspire improved team results after previously enduring a four-game winless run.
Although the affable Matano stated they were happy but not excited by the 2-1 win over the Slum Boys, he did not hide that they had not done well this season and bemoaned some players' absence.
"The win is a good relief for us because we did not have most of our key players, but I appreciate the players we currently have as they came up very strong, and they showed there are in this team to play. I am happy
We are just rebuilding again after losing nearly our first team. But today, that fighting spirit in the second half shows we are improving game after game.
We should not look at the win alone. We should now look forward to the next match. This win is history, and we are happy but not so excited. We want to put our foot down and look forward to victory in the other matches, and we have to play to win.
Everyone has to develop that confidence and maintain a winning spirit, and I believe we will do better in remaining matches," said Matano in a post-match interview.
On paper, Tusker should be among the top two teams in the league, but that has yet to be the case as the league nears the end of the first leg.
The Brewers are currently seated in fifth place on the log with 28 points garnered from 15 matches played this season.
Tusker will visit Posta Rangers at Thika Stadium this Sunday, with kickoff set for 3 PM.
