FUFA has banned Jackson mayanja for his post-match comments against FIFA Referee Mashoud Ssali after KCCA's loss to Vipers.
KCCA FC will miss their interim head coach Jackson ‘Mia Mia’ Mayanja for their upcoming StarTimes Uganda Premier League match against Express and BUL this week.
This is after the coach was found guilty of airing out malicious comments against FIFA referee Mashoud Ssali following KCCA’s 1-0 loss to Vipers at Kitende last Friday at Kitende.
During the post-match press conference, Mayanja told journalists that the referee was biased and then took a swipe at those who tasked him to justify his comments with examples before he walked out prematurely.
“...the best team lost. I want to put it on Camera; I won’t fear anybody, Mr. Mashood is a problem. Thank you so much, that is my comment....,” the FUFA Competitions Disciplinary Panel (CDP), based on these excerpts from the recordings to punish the coach.
Careless
In his defence, Mayanja noted that he was only expressing his dismay towards the performance of the referee as he listed several points of contentions from the day’s officiating.
He also questioned the panel’s authority in handling the case claiming that no one had complained officially.
However, he left room for his escape as he asked to be pardoned as a first-time offender in case he was found guilty.
Ban
The panel ruled that even the coach was not remorseful and that his comments brought the game of football into disrepute and deserved punishment and a warning.
He was banned for the two games and fined shs.1 million.
“Jackson Mayanja is suspended for two FUFA Star Times Uganda Premier League matches,” the CDP ruled, adding that the “suspension is effective immediately” and that he “shall remain ineligible until the fine is fully paid”.
Mayanja will return on May 23rd in KCCA’s penultimate game against Busoga United in Jinja before completing the season against Soltilo Bright Stars in Lugogo.
