The French star was unable to help Real Madrid as they drew away to Las Palmas in LaLiga
Real Madrid new boy Kylian Mbappe is still yet to get off the mark for Los Blancos and could not help his new side as they drew 1-1 away to LaLiga minnows Las Palmas.
Mbappe fired off nine shots but failed to find the back of the net and missed a big chance as Real Madrid missed a golden opportunity to close the gap on Barcelona at the top of the LaLiga standings.
Alberto Moleiro opened the scoring for Las Palmas after only five minutes, and it took a penalty well after the hour mark from Vinicius Junior for Real Madrid to snatch a point from the jaws of defeat.
Real Madrid escaped losing all three points on several occasions in the match, including having a late Las Palmas goal ruled out for offside.
How it happened
Alberto Moliero shocked the visitors with a quick goal, finishing from an Oli McBurnie assist just five minutes in.
Despite this setback, Real Madrid's best first-half opportunity came from a Fede Valverde free kick, which forced former Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen into a remarkable save. Cillessen was intent on doing his old side a favour against Real Madrid, denying Antonio Rudiger before the break as Los Blancos sought an equaliser.
Real Madrid almost faced further trouble when another ex-Barcelona star Sandro Ramírez missed a chance to score after rounding Thibaut Courtois.
However, Los Blancos eventually got the equaliser they were desperate for when Alex Suarez handled the ball in the box, allowing Vinícius to equalise from the penalty spot.
Late in the game, Jaime Mata appeared to secure victory for Las Palmas with a powerful strike, but it was disallowed for offside.
The draw saw Real Madrid move to fourth place on the table, but they still trail leaders Barcelona by four points after only one win in their first three games.
