Meanwhile strong reports indicate Mbowa will sign a two-year employment contract with the Western region outfit in the coming days.
Former URA FC assistant coach Baker Mbowa is set to take over as head coach at Mbarara City FC, replacing Sadiq Ssempigi, according to Swift Sports.
Ssempigi departed the Ankore Lions at the end of the recently concluded season, having helped them earn promotion to the Uganda Premier League.
He has since joined Bulemeezi Ssaza as head coach ahead of the 2023 Masaza Cup tournament.
Meanwhile strong reports indicate Mbowa will sign a two-year employment contract with the Western region outfit in the coming days.
Mbowa spent nine months at URA as deputy to head coach Sam Timbe having joined them in Apirl 2022.
He exited in January 2023 after allegations of conflicts with Timbe that resulted in dismal results during the first round of the Uganda Premier League.
Mbowa has previously had coaching roles at Soltilo Bright Stars FC, Proline FC, Masaka LC, Mawokota Ssaza and Kabula Ssaza.
