Former Uganda Cranes defender Savio Kabugo explained why Ugandan players have struggled professionally over the years following a series of tweets he shared on Sunday.
Many have always questioned why many Ugandan players don't last long at professional stints, with the majority returning to the local league after just a season or less.

"As I posted yesterday, here is the main reason why we fail abroad: first and foremost," Kabugo, 28, currently a free agent, tweeted before adding.
"A Ugandan will never be respected without a national call-up because they think the best players must be in the national team and compete for their places in foreign lands."
Kabugo added: "Ninety-nine per cent of our agents are after pocketing money; they don't care about players. That's why they often fight with teams, leading to contract terminations."
The former Proline FC, Victoria University, KCCA FC and SC Villa centre-back also had no kind words for the fourth estate, blaming them for always writing negatively about players' injuries and age indifferencies.
"Our media doesn't protect their own players; everyone isn't perfect, but our own publish news on how players cheat age, being injury prone, which fails players already."
He also didn't have kind words for fellow players: "It's with our players; after signing a fair contract abroad, we think we are on top of the world, and we relax not knowing there are hungry West Africans who want jobs," he stressed.
Kabugo famously scored for the Uganda Cranes during their 1-0 home win against Ghana in the 2014 AFCON qualifier at the Mandela National Stadium.
He has previously had pro stints for sides, including Congo's A.S Vita and Botswana's Jaweng Galaxy.
