Eagles keeper declares for Nigeria and Super Eagles
Goodman looked happy and proud as he walked into Gusau’s office as captured on video and shared widely on social media by renowned photojournalist Poojamedia.
The goalkeeper, who stands at an incredible 6ft 4’’, spent last season on loan at Colchester United in England's League Two. He made 40 appearances, 38 of them in the League, one each in the EFL Cup and the Emirates FA Cup.
Goodman is set to provide additional depth and competition in the Super Eagles' goalkeeping department which has been an area of need for Nigeria since the departure of legend Vincent Enyeama.
The national team currently has Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Olorunleke Ojo as their designated shot-stoppers, following the appointment of Finidi George as the new head coach.
His decision to represent Nigeria is a testament to the growing global appeal and reputation of our national team, and the NFF president, Gusau, was happy to welcome him.
This news is sure to excite Nigerian football fans, who will be eager to see Goodman in action for the Super Eagles as they embark on their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign.
The young goalkeeper's decision to choose Nigeria over England and Canada is a significant coup for the NFF and a clear sign of the country's increasing pull in the global football landscape.
