Megan Rapinoe’s last game with the United States women’s national team will be a friendly against South Africa.
Rapinoe announced her plan to retire from the game after the 2023 Women’s World Cup.
The plan was to finish the NWSL season and call it a day, doing so after 203 USWNT caps.
Rapinoe to retire from football
The USWNT are scheduled to play South Africa in a two-game series on Sept. 21 and 24, but Rapinoe will not play in the first game and will be honored ahead of the second.
OL Reign, Rapinoe’s NWSL side, is scheduled to play its last regular-season match on Oct. 15; the club’s last home game, on Oct. 6, is being advertised as “Forever Reign: A Celebration of Megan Rapinoe.”
