Lorient threw away their underdog tag to stun the 10 men of Paris Saint-Germain on their way to a 3-1 victory at the Parc des Princes.
PSG, edging closer to their 11th Ligue 1 title were fully expected to stroll to victory against Lorient but the champions were stunned and made to succumb to a 3-1 defeat.
How it happened
Lorient started the game with more energy and deservedly took the lead when Romain Faivre teed up Enzo Le Fee, who finished clinically to shake the Parc des Princes on the quarter-hour mark.
Things went from bad to worse for the hosts as Achraf Hakimi, having already been booked for a needless sliding tackle on Faivre, received a second booking for a late lunge on Darlin Yongwa after just 20 minutes.
PSG responded after Klian Mbape capitalised on an error by the visiting goalkeeper to level proceedings.
Lorient regained the advantage when the excellent Faivre ghosted past Marco Verratti and played a pass that squirmed through the crowd towards the back post, where Yongwa was on hand to score a memorable first-ever career goal.
Lionel Messi was kept quiet for most of the game and Lorient wrapped up the win right at the end as PSG left themselves wide open chasing an equaliser.
Bamba Dieng stole in to finish expertly and give the away side all three points.
