The Lionel Messi situation has taken a new turn with a recent report suggesting the Argentine superstar has turned down a move to Saudi Arabia.
Lionel Messi's future has been the subject of debate for weeks and months and it looks like a decision is close to being made.
Messi to choose between MLS and Barcelona
According to The Athletic, MLS and Inter Miami are working on a mega deal to land the superstar forward in what would surely be the biggest deal for Major League Soccer.
The report states that MLS executives were told by Messi's entourage that the attacker's decision is down to Inter Miami or Barcelona and that joining a club from Saudi Arabia is “not under consideration.”
There have been reports of Messi's imminent decision from Europe, South America, and Asia, but momentum seems to be shifting towards Inter Miami.
Barcelona remain firmly in the race
Barcelona will continue to push but time is running out for the Blaugrana with some reports indicating the club may not have the finances to pull off the deal, in any case.
