Micheal Olise helped France reach the final of the Paris 2024 Olympics football tournament but suffered heartbreak against Spain.
Bayern Munich's new signing Michael Olise was left devastated after France's gut-wrenching defeat to Spain in the final of the Paris 2024 Olympics football tournament.
The 22-year-old midfielder was the only French player to remove his silver medal after Thierry Henry's under-23 side suffered a 5-3 extra-time loss to their Spanish counterparts in front of a packed stadium.

Olise, who had pledged his international future to France after previously being courted by Nigeria, featured for the full 120 minutes as the hosts were eventually undone by a brace from Sergio Camello in the additional period.
The youngster had given France hope of a comeback when he scored a superb free-kick to make it 3-2 after Spain had raced into a 3-1 lead. Jean Mateta then levelled late on from the penalty spot to force the final into extra time.
But substitute Camello's decisive double, the first a delicate chip over the goalkeeper and the second a near-identical finish, sealed glory for the visitors and left Olise and his teammates distraught.
Olise's actions during the medal ceremony have now drawn significant criticism, with the Bayern new boy choosing to remove his silver medal as soon as it was placed around his neck.
'The Olympics is the only place where runner up medals actually mean something in football. He needs to grow up,' said a Nigerian journalist on social media.
'Disrespectful. I understand it in football competitions but this is football going to the Olympic stage where even Bronze medals are appreciated. Keep that approach for the League Cup not the Olympics and in his case a home Olympics,” a fan noted.
A third commented: 'Olise's PR has officially started', while a fourth simply said: 'What a s*** mentality he has, no respect at all.'
One user went as far as to suggest Olise should switch his international allegiance to England to 'win trophies', despite the player having chosen France over Nigeria.
The defeat will undoubtedly be a tough pill to swallow for Olise and his teammates, who had been hoping to clinch gold on home soil.
But their dreams were ultimately shattered by a resilient Spanish side, leaving the Bayern new boy and the rest of the France squad to reflect on what might have been.
