Harambee Stars captain Michel Olunga will be seeking to achieve two things in one match as his club Al Duhail face Al Gharafa in the Qatari League where they are enjoying a good run.
Harambee Stars captain Michael Olunga will have two things on his mind as his club Al Duhail faces Al Gharafa in the Qatar Stars League on Sunday.
Leaders Al Duhail will be in action at their Abdullah Bin Khalifa Stadium home in Doha on Sunday when they take on fourth-placed Al Gharafa and talisman Olunga will be the man being relied on for goals yet again.
The Red Knights returned to winning ways last weekend when Olunga’s lone goal gave them a 1-0 victory against Al Ahli, having suffered their only loss of the league so far against Al Shahania by a 1-2 margin, before the international break.

Michael Olunga on target as Al Duhail claim crucial Qatari Stars League win
Olunga was back in the scoresheet for Al Duhail on return to club duty following Kenya's narrow 1-0 loss to Cameroon last Monday.
Olunga has been in fine form as usual, scoring in his last three league games, and few will bet against him making it a four-game scoring run.
For Olunga, the chase for a league trophy and Golden Boot Award is on as he seeks to reclaim the honours that eluded him last season. Al Duhail endured a torrid 2023-24 campaign, when they failed to defend their league title following a sixth-place finish, while Olunga missed out on the top scorer’s award after coming short.
The Kenyan international had bagged back-to-back Golden Boot awards in 2021-22 and 2022-23 and is keen to get back to the top this season although he is in a tight race after bagging six goals, same as Antonio Mance of Umm Salal and Rafa Mujica who plays for Al Sadd, while his team-mate Edmilson Junior and Ricardo Gomes of Al Wakrah are on five each.
It means Olunga will be looking to fire his team to victory while also having an eye on topping the scoring charts, a good motivation for him ahead of the match.
Al Duhail have been on a good run this season, losing just one of their seven matches, and top the standings with 18 points, four ahead second-placed Al Ahli, and six more than defending champions Al Sadd.
