Newcastle thrash Sheffield
In a one-sided affair at Bramall Lane, the Magpies returned to winning ways in excellent fashion.
Newcastle United became the first Premier League side to have eight different scorers in a single match following a comprehensive 8-0 win.
Wilson and Isak were among the scorers for Eddie Howe’s men, with both players scoring the fourth and last goals respectively.
Owen rates Wilson and Isak on Haaland’s level
The former Liverpool man, who also played for Newcastle United, made this bold statement after watching both players against Sheffield.
Wilson, a seasoned Premier League striker, and Isak, a rising star from Sweden, have been instrumental in Newcastle United’s resurgence under Howe.
Their ability to find the back of the net has now drawn comparisons with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland from Premier League great, Owen.
“I love that finish,” Owen stated. “A Lot of people panic in front of goal. One thing I wish I had - practice with my left foot more, not necessarily striking the ball but I think if you are a striker or any player to be able to manipulate the ball with both feet like Isak did there, I think it’s a big skill to have.”
“You could argue that Newcastle got two of the best finishers in the League,” he added. “I mean, I think whenever I see them go close to goal I think ‘that’s a goal.’ of course, there is Haaland, he’d be right up there.”
