Former U-18 and U-21 goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheri joins Danish club Midtjylland.

Danish side Midtjylland have completed the signing of former Arsenal goalkeeper Ovie Ejeheru on a free transfer.

Ejeheri, 21, is an Arsenal academy graduate but has spent the entirety of his senior career away from the club. He has yet to play an official game for Arsenal, with loan stints at Chelmsford and Finnish side SJK Seinajoki.

He impressed during his last loan spell in the Veikkausliga, helping them finish third with nine clean sheets in 14 league matches. Midtjylland have been paying attention to his development, and with his Arsenal contract expiring following the end of last season, the Danish giants snapped him up from the free market.

Ejeheri joins Midtjylland

Midtjylland announced via their club website that they have signed the 21-year-old goalkeeper on a five-year contract.

“The Mid Jutland goalkeeper squad ahead of the new season is about to be put in place with 21-year-old Ovie Ejeheri, who comes to the club after his contract at the English Premier League club Arsenal FC, where he has played at both U18 and U21 level.”

“There must be a warm welcome to FC Midtjylland for our new keeper, who has signed a five-year contract.”

What Ejeheri said

Excited about the deal, Ejeheri, who is conversant with Scandinavian football given his time in Finland, understands Midtjylland are one of the biggest clubs in the region and is keen on joining his new teammates.

“Midtjylland is a club with big ambitions and one of the biggest clubs in Scandinavia,” Ejeheri said. “I really enjoyed my time in Finland last season, both on and off the field, and I see it as a good opportunity to come to Danish football, where I see many similarities, but of course also differences.

“Now I am looking forward to working with the whole group and especially the talented goalkeepers who are at the club.”

Meanwhile, in an interview with Pulse Sports, Ejeheri expressed his desire to play for the Super Eagles
