Mikel Arteta has confirmed that Aaron Ramsdale will return in goal against Brentford during his pre-match presser.
David Raya is ineligible to play against his parent club, Brentford, which means that Ramsdale will get the chance to start his first Premier League game since September 3.
Raya topples Ramsdale
Raya joined Arsenal on loan from Brentford and has started every Premier League and UEFA Champions League game since the September international break, pushing the England goalkeeper to the bench.
Ramsdale, who made the 2022–23 PFA team of the season, has only appeared in the Carabao Cup since September, and this has divided the online Arsenal fanbase.
According to reports on Thursday, Arteta has already decided that the club will exercise the £27 million option to make the Spaniard's move permanent in the summer.
Arteta sends message to Ramsdale
Ramsdale opened up about how losing his position as Arsenal’s first choice has been the most difficult period of his career and how he is worried about losing his place in the England squad should the situation remain the same.
When asked how he could improve the 24-year-old's chances with the England team, Arteta said: ‘My job is to try to help every single player in the best possible way every single day to make them better, to give them the best possible chance to fulfil their potential in their career and get to the highest level they possibly can, with no exception in any position or player.’
Ramsdale will face a huge test against Brentford this weekend, as his performance will be under the microscope.
