Olivier Giroud is set to sign a contract extension with Milan, and they could become the club he has made the second most appearances for.
According to reports, Olivier Giroud and AC Milan have verbally agreed on a contract extension, and he is on course to surpass his appearances for Chelsea with Milan.
The 36-year-old joined Milan in the summer of 2021 and has since been a crucial component of the Rossoneri's success, as they went on to win their first league title in 10 years during the 2021/22 season.
Giroud set for contract renewal with Milan
Giroud's representatives met with Milan executives Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini today at Casa Milan, and they were said to have had a positive conversation, per reports from GetfootballNewsItaly.
According to the reports, both parties have reached a verbal agreement on a new deal. He is set to sign for an additional season and earn €3.5 million per year.
The France international has scored 12 goals and six assists for Milan this season, adding up to 26 goals and 10 assists in his 72 games for the defending champions.
With eleven league games left this season and Milan's involvement in the Champions League, Giroud could take his appearance numbers for Milan to over 80 from his current 72.
He made 119 appearances for Chelsea, the second most for a single club in his career, and the current difference in his appearances for the Blues and the Rossoneri is 47. Giroud made 38 appearances for Milan last season and is currently on 34 this season, with at least 13 games left for Milan to play.
Staying with the Rossoneri for one more season could see the seven-time Champions League winners become the club he has made the second most appearances for after Arsenal, for whom he played 253 times.
