Mikel Arteta expresses frustration as Arsenal twice loses the lead in the North London Derby, ending in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was left frustrated as his team twice surrendered the lead to Tottenham Hotspur, ending the match in a 2-2 draw in the North London Derby .

Despite an electric atmosphere and moments of dominance, the Gunners couldn't capitalize on their opportunities to secure three points.

Arsenal twice went ahead in the match, but Arteta could not help but rue the chances that slipped away, which could have seen his team secure a crucial victory.

"Well, especially when you go up twice, and the moments and the chances that we didn't make, especially in the first half... We wanted more, but you have to make the most out of it, and we didn't. The moments where we had dominance of the game and control, we conceded the goals, and that was a big, big blow,” Arteta told the club portal.

The North London Derby is always a fiercely contested match, and Arteta acknowledged the excitement of playing in front of the passionate crowd but pointed out that the team lacked composure at times, particularly on the ball.

"Playing in front of this crowd in a derby doesn't get much better than that, and I think the players were so excited, but sometimes you can be too hyped because then we lacked some composure on the ball to get more control,” he said.

Despite the frustration, Arteta recognized that a draw was the final outcome and stated, "We have to take the draw, there is nothing else we can do."

During half-time, Arteta was forced into making a double substitution, with Declan Rice and Fabio Vieira coming off, and Kai Havertz and Jorginho taking their place on the pitch.

Arteta revealed that Declan Rice's substitution was due to an injury concern, saying, "Declan is not feeling good, he felt something in his back and could not carry on." Fabio Vieira's replacement was a tactical decision.

The match had its share of drama, with Arsenal scoring a goal in the second half, only to concede an equalizer shortly after.

The rollercoaster of emotions left Arteta and the Arsenal faithful yearning for more, but ultimately, a draw was the outcome that both teams had to accept.

The North London Derby is always a fixture that carries immense significance for Arsenal and their fans, as it represents a battle for supremacy in one of the most passionate footballing cities in the world.

Arsenal will need to regroup and learn from their performance in this derby as they continue their campaign in the Premier League.

While the draw might not be the desired outcome, it still keeps Arsenal in the mix, and Arteta and his team will be looking to build on the positives and work on the areas that need improvement.
