The forward joins the Dockers on a free transfer after he parted ways with Sofapaka.
Bandari FC head coach Anthony 'Modo' Kimani has confirmed the acquisition of striker Joe Waithera on a free transfer.
Waithera has joined Bandari on a permanent deal after parting ways with the 2009 Premier League champions Sofapaka.
The striker had been with Batoto ba Mungu since February 2021 after joining the club from Wazito FC on a two-year deal.
Despite his usual sharpness in front of goal, Waithera was rarely used by Sofapaka in the current campaign, where he scored only once in the opening match against Bandari FC at the Mbaraki Grounds as Sofapaka fell 2-1.
“We have already signed Joe Waithera in the process of strengthening our attack. We have been having difficulties with our forward line this season. We have been creating chances but we have not been able to convert them so by strengthening our attack we will be able to score many goals,” said Kimani.
The former AFC Leopards interim coach added that he intends to bring in new faces to beef up his squad following the opening of the mid-season transfer window on Monday.
“We are going to add two or three players because there are other areas we need to strengthen. We need squad depth to battle for a better finish in the second leg. We will next sign a prolific winger who can work with the players we currently have in that position.
We currently have good defenders and goalkeepers, so we will not sign players in those areas as our weakness has been with the forward positions,” he added.
Waithera, who previously played for Wazito FC and Mount Kenya United, could make his first appearance for Bandari when they take on Yatta-based side AP FC in an FKF Cup tie.
Bandari who beat Bidco United 2-0 in last weekend's FKF Premier League action are currently placed ninth on the log with 24 points.
