Maduka Okoye signed for a new club last week before turning 24 this week and Jelicia Westhoff has taken to social media to celebrate her handsome partner.
The Ko Po Ke crooner reportedly visited the hospital to treat an infection that stemmed from an injury on Tuesday, September 12. He was said to have passed moments after getting an injection at the hospital.
A statement was released via the singer’s X account later that night, further confirming the sad news.
"It is with great sadness that we confirm the passing of Promise Oladimeji Aloba PK/A Mohbad (Imole) today, the 12th of September, 2023. Mohbad was a light until the very end, and as we mourn the loss of the brightness he carried, the family thanks you for your thoughts and prayers and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time. Imole is finally at peace."
The singer has reportedly been buried today, Wednesday, September 13, with videos surfacing on the internet to that effect.
Maduka Okoye grieves Mohbad’s death
The young artiste’s death at such a relatively tender age is a sad one, and many have expressed and are still expressing grief.
German-born Super Eagles goalkeeper Okoye joined in on the condolences as he took to his X account to post “R.I.P. Imole.” ‘Imole’ is the artiste’s catchphrase and moniker.
Okoye, capped 16 times for the Nigerian national team, currently plays his football in Serie A with Udinese after a tough spell at Watford, where he scrapped for game time.
He has yet to play a game for The Little Zebras in the league this season, serving as a mere deputy to first-choice Marco Silvestri.
