The 19-year-old former City Stars midfielder has lived up to Engin Firat's expectations of gaining more playing time for Elfsborg this season.

Harambee Stars midfielder Timothy Ouma got more minutes for Elfsborg in the middle of the park but could not help them avoid a 1-0 defeat to GAIS in an Allsvenskan league match that took place on Sunday,

Ouma featured for 45 minutes before being subbed off at the break but had a decent spell on the pitch. He completed three out of four dribbles and registered a 93 percent pass accuracy. He also won three of his four attempted ground duels.

Elfsborg did not get off to a good start as they conceded twice in the opening 20 minutes thanks to a brace by Axel Henriksson, before Michael Baidoo clawed one back for the visitors, which proved not enough to mount a complete turnaround.

Harambee Stars head coach Engin Firat will have been pleased by the teenager’s progress, having backed him to gain more minutes for the side during his last press conference infront of the media before the side jetted out to Malawi for the Four Nations Tournament they eventually won.

“I expect him to get more minutes to his club but I wanted him to gain more experience internationally, that is why we asked for him to be with the u20s,” he said.

In Zambia, Harambee Stars pair of Ian Otieno and Jesse Were  could not help inspire Zesco to avoid drawing against Forest Rovers.

Were started the match upfront, while Otieno was not in the squad for the match.

Zesco have endured a disappointing collapse in their quest for the title in recent weeks, having won just one of their last five league games.

Dennis ‘Calabar’ Owino was an unused substitute Napsa Stars could not avoid defeat to Nkwazi, but having already guaranteed safety from the drop, had nothing to lose with just two games of the season left to play.

For Zanacoo, Dennis Ng’ang’a and John Ochieng, two former Gor Mahia players, had to endure defeat as the mid-table side lost 1-0 to champions elect Red Arrows. Both were not part of the matchday squad for the loss.
