Osimhen, other African stars snubbed from UEFA's top 10 Players of the Year
No African player managed to make it to the top 10 of UEFA's rankings for the 2023 Player of the Year
The 24-year-old forward scored Napoli’s second and third goals in the 3-1 win, leaving him at the top of the scorer’s ranking for this year ahead of some incredible names.
Osimhen ahead of Kane and Haaland
Kane, who scored in his first start for his new side Bayern Munich, has now scored 18 goals in the Premier League and Bundesliga combined in 2023, leaving him just behind Napoli’s Osimhen.
Manchester City’s goal machine, Erling Haaland, finished the 2022/23 season with 36 goals in the Premier League, but with the bulk of those coming in the first half of the season, he has only registered 17 goals this calendar year, two behind Osimhen.
Despite his exploits in recent months, Osimhen was omitted from the top 10 of UEFA’s Player of the Year shortlist, while Haaland, thanks to hs exploits for Manchester City is among the favourites to win the award.
