The former Chelsea and Manchester United midfielder could join the Portuguese manager at Fenerbahce
New Fenerbahce manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly eyeing another reunion with former Chelsea and Manchester United star Nemanja Matic as the Portuguese manager looks to strengthen his new side’s midfield.
Mourinho targets familiar face Nemanja Matic for Fenerbahce
According to Foot Mercato, Mourinho is keen on bringing the 36-year-old defensive midfielder to Turkey, viewing him as a crucial addition to his new squad.
This potential transfer would mark the fourth time that Mourinho has managed Matic, following their successful stints together at Chelsea, Manchester United, and most recently, AS Roma.
Matic, who currently plays for Lyon, has been a key player for the French club since his arrival in January, with his experience and leadership on the field making him a vital player at Groupama Stadium.
However, Lyon could be tempted into offloading players after a busy transfer window that saw them bring in more than €134 million worth of talent this summer.
Fenerbahce still interested in Manchester United target
In addition to targeting Nemanja Matic, Fenerbahce are reportedly interested in Fiorentina's Sofyan Amrabat, who spent last season on loan at Manchester United.
According to Sports Zone, the Turkish Super League club is exploring multiple options to bolster their midfield, and the Moroccan star is close to the top of their list alongside Matic.
Fenerbahce will face competition from Manchester United for the Fiorentina midfielder, however, as the Red Devils maintain an interest in bringing Amrabat back to Old Trafford, especially if they fail in their attempts to sign Uruguayan midfielder Manuel Ugarte from Paris Saint-Germain.
