AS Roma’s head coach Jose Mourinho continues to break new ground for the club after they reached their second European final under the guidance of the Portuguese gaffer.
Roma beat Leverkusen to reach second consecutive European final
Roma beat Bayer Leverkusen thanks to a 1-0 aggregate win after a 0-0 draw in the second leg of their UEFA Europa League semifinal to reach the final of the UEL where they will face Sevilla.
Despite only firing one shot at the Leverkusen goal in the entire second leg, Roma sweated out a win and will happy as they prepare for the final hoping to make more history under Mourinho.
They won the 2022 UEFA Europa Conference League in the ex-Real Madrid and Inter man’s first season in charge, and they could follow that up by winning the next tier of European competition after reaching another final and setting a new club record.
Mourinho leading Roma to European excellence
In reaching the final of the Europa League with Roma, Mourinho entered I Gialorossi folklore, with back-to-back European finals in his two seasons at the club, becoming the first manager in its history to achieve this feat.

Prior to the Portuguese manager joining, Roma had only been to two European finals in its history, and now, thanks to Mourinho, they get to celebrate a second one in two years.
The only other European finals Roma have reached outside Mourinho’s tenure have been the 1983/84 European Cup final against Liverpool, and the 1990/91 UEFA Cup final against Inter. Unfortunately, they lost both.
The 2021/22 UEFA Europa Conference League win was Roma’s first European success and they will be hoping that the Special One can lead them to another triumph when they play Europa League specialists Sevilla in the final.
