The Brazilians are set to square off against rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the second leg of the cup competition at the Lucas MasterPieces Stadium.

Mamelodi Sundowns' exceptional form will face a critical test as they gear up for the MTN 8 semi-final this Saturday.

The Brazilians are set to square off against rivals Kaizer Chiefs in the second leg of the cup competition at the Lucas MasterPieces Stadium.

Former Cranes captain Denis Masinde Onyango has issued a stern warning, emphasising the importance of a strategic approach.

"Another significant match awaits us this Saturday; it's a knockout game, and we have the advantage of playing at home,” Onyango remarked.

“We hope our fans turn out in large numbers to support us; we always rely on their backing."

He added: "We must play intelligently and secure a favourable outcome because our goal is to reach the final."

The first leg of the contest ended in a 1-1 draw, with Kaizer Chiefs taking the lead courtesy of Edson Castillo before Khuliso Mudau levelled the score in added time.

On the other hand, Kaizer Chiefs faced a setback after losing to Supersport United on Wednesday night.

Much like last season, Denis Onyango continues to serve as the backup to Ronwen Williams, with the Bafana Bafana captain taking the starting role in all matches across various competitions this season.

Sundowns' recent 1-0 victory against rivals Orlando Pirates equalled a league record previously held by traditional giants Kaizer Chiefs, which stood at 31 games without defeat.

Rulani Mokwena's squad, who last tasted defeat in a league match in September 2022 against SuperSport United, have now accumulated 25 wins and six draws, matching Chiefs' remarkable run from 2005.

During that period, Chiefs remained unbeaten from January 15, 2005, to November 16, 2005, securing 15 wins and 16 draws.

The Brazilians, eyeing an unprecedented seventh consecutive league title, are also preparing to participate in the newly established CAF African Football League, scheduled to kick off in October.
