FUFA Kampala regional league side, Proline FC, has appointed a new coach, Simon Peter Mugerwa on a short-term contract until the end of the season.

Mugerwa was unveiled by the club on Tuesday morning, before taking charge of their morning session.

The CAF C licensed coach expressed his delight in joining the club and pledged to restore Proline FC to its lost glory.

“Joining Proline FC was an easy decision because it’s a project that ticks many boxes,” Mugerwa told the club’s media, adding; “I believe it is a challenge that will help me grow as a coach.”

“I and everybody I work with will ensure positive results; we will fight to improve performances in the second round.”

Proline FC was relegated to the regional league in April 2022, the last day of the FUFA Big league, and Mugerwa says the club belongs in the top tier, a feat he wants to achieve.

“Proline is a big brand, and I believe they belong in the top tier of Ugandan football; I will therefore work tirelessly to ensure the team returns to the top flight,” he said.

Mugerwa cut his niche in secondary school football, nurturing talents with schools like Kakungulu Memorial, Masaka SS, and Buddo SS.

He was also the assistant coach at the now-defunct Fire Masters and SC Villa in 2019.

However, the soft-spoken tactician is remembered mainly for his time at Soltilo Bright Stars, where he spent up to five years under different managers. He left the Kavumba-based side in 2022.
