Uganda Hippos forward Rogers Mugisha has been named in the 2023 U20 Africa Cup of Nations Best XI.

The UPDF FC player was undoubtedly Uganda's best player at the competition that was held in Egypt from February 19 to March 11.

Although his side was eliminated following a 1-0 loss to record champions Nigeria in the quarterfinals, the youngster was individually brilliant.

Mugisha was named the man of the match in Uganda's opening game against the Central African Republic.

At the end of the group stages, he was named in the Best XI alongside his teammate, defender Rogers Torach.

Champions Senegal dominated the Best XI with four players, runners-up the Gambia, third-placed Nigeria, and Congo had two players each.

Goalkeeper Landing Badji, defender Seydou Sano, and midfielders Lamine Camara and Pape Diop are the Senegalese in the team.

For guiding Senegal to their maiden U20 title, head coach Malick Daf was named the coach of the tournament's Best XI.
