Odera has revealed the real reasons Muhoroni Youth have struggled for good form this season amidst a relegation dogfight.

Muhoroni Youth's head coach Charles Odera has shed light on the challenges his team has faced throughout the season as they battle for survival in the 2023/2024 FKFPL

Odera has attributed their struggle for survival to financial constraints and a constant need to rebuild the squad.

The former APS Bomet coach’s comments came in the aftermath of a hard-fought 1-1 draw with the experienced Kenya Police side on a Sunday afternoon.

In an exclusive statement, Odera stated, "Financial constraints have affected us, and many players jumped ship, forcing me to keep building and rebuilding the team."

This candid admission highlights the team's struggle to retain players due to financial limitations, leading to a continuous process of rebuilding the squad.

The coach expressed the difficulty of managing the team amidst players’ tendency to move on given the struggles.

"I keep building and rebuilding the squad. That is why we have been struggling, and there is no time for pre-season. The games are going on, which has been affecting us."

This lack of a stable foundation has evidently impacted Muhoroni Youth's performance throughout the season.

Despite the financial constraints and ongoing struggles, Odera remains optimistic about the team's potential for success.

"If players can agree to stay and we have a stable financial base, we will start winning."

The head coach acknowledged the psychological toll these challenges may have on the players, especially those facing a relegation battle for the first time in their careers.

"It does not worry me, it is just that it may affect the players because most of them are in a relegation battle for the first time in their careers, which leaves them wondering where they will be next season."

Drawing from his past experiences, Odera understands the gravity of the situation and stressed the importance of winning upcoming matches to secure the team's position.

He added, "I have been in this situation before, and I know the gravity of the situation. We must win three or four of the next matches to get out of the situation, and as a coach, I have to motivate them to win."

Looking ahead, Odera revealed plans to address the team's lack of experience playing in front of crowds and the extended breaks between games.

"Most players are new and they are not used to playing in front of the crowd. We have three weeks with no games, so we will take part in multiple friendly matches to boost our confidence."

Odera's openness about the challenges faced by Muhoroni Youth provides fans and the football community with valuable insights into the team's struggles, aspirations, and the determination to overcome adversity in the ongoing season.
