Tonny Mawejje, Mike Mutyaba, Saddam Juma, and Hassan Wasswa, to mention but a few, are some of the former players undertaking the CAF C coaching course under the tutelage of CAF instructors Mujib Kasule and Jackson Nyima.

Former players worldwide play a crucial role in various capacities but mainly in coaching. Many have decided to take on the course back in Uganda.

Tonny Mawejje, Mike Mutyaba, Saddam Juma, and Hassan Wasswa, are some of the former players undertaking the CAF C coaching course under the tutelage of CAF instructors Mujib Kasule and Jackson Nyima.

Mujib, a former KCCA FC forward, told Pulse Sports that his class couldn't have been any more vibrant with the players.

"It's always an excellent thing to see former players coming into football, actually coaching in football must recruit from the those retired players," Mujib suggested.

"When someone has played the game, coaching becomes very easy for him to pass on the skills and experience to the new generation."

However, the Proline FC director emphasized the need for passion for coaching; "Most of the things they see, they have encountered during their careers, but it is the methodology and structure they are learning."

"All of them are doing well; whether they have the passion for going and coaching later, that's another thing, but if they stay in the system, they must be passionate."

Juma and Mutyaba have already identified with KCCA FC to undertake their internship, and club vice chairman Aggrey Ashaba says it's a bold step for the former players.

"The game needs to retain its best and assist them in transitioning from players to coaches, administrators and all other positions to drive the game ahead."

"And it's an exciting period where global knowledge is now localized because of technology. We believe ability is evenly distributed as a club, but opportunity is not, so we are creating this pathway,” Ashaba noted.

For Mutyaba, the credit goes to Kasule for his support as they start another chapter in football: "We're open to learning, and we want to learn from our seniors; we appreciate Mujib Kasule for the knowledge when you look at him on the inside."

"You can't believe how knowledgeable he is until you sit in his class, so we appreciate him for passing on the right information."

With several former players enrolled on the coaching system, it remains to be seen if the football structure will welcome and trust them to execute.
