Vincent Odhiambo will take charge on an interim capacity.
Ulinzi Stars head coach Benard Mwalala has called time on his career at the club after months of being unsettled.
In a statement released by the club on its social media pages, the club’s management have also announced that Vincent Odhiambo will be taking charge on an interim capacity.
The Ulinzi Stars Management wish to announce the Appointment of Senior Sergent Vincent Moriero Odhiambo, a dedicated and talented member of our coaching staff, will be taking charge as the interim coach,” the statement said.
The announcement finally brings an end to the saga that has surrounded his future at the club since the end of May, when he told the players and coaching staff he would be leaving after the Mozzart Bet semi-final clash against Tusker at the Nyayo National Stadium in May.
Ulinzi lost 1-0 courtesy of a last minute goal by Eric Otieno. Speaking in his post-match sentiments, Mwalala insisted he would be staying at the club in order to help them finish as high as possible and achieve third place in the cup.
However, he has not been in the dugout since, with Odhiambo taking charge of the club’s remaining matches of the season.
Attempted calls to listen from Mwalala on the matter have gone unanswered so far.
The soldiers will now be looking for a new head coach as Odhiambo continues in an acting capacity.
