Tactician Asaph Mwebaze has acquitted himself quite decently in his first season with Soltilo Bright Stars FC.

He guided them to ninth in the 2022/23 Uganda Premier League, an improvement from the preceding season's 12th.

Mwebaze also led the club to a semi-final finish in the 2022/23 Stanbic Uganda Cup.

In the latter competition, Bright Stars were eliminated by Vipers SC after a 4-1 aggregate defeat.

Summing up the campaign, Mwebaze insists he has no regrets for the season as his team competed and improved from the 2021/22 show.

"We are proud because first of all, we haven't struggled in the league this season," said the coach following the 1-0 victory over Vipers in the second leg of fhe Uganda Cup on Tuesday, at Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

"And, being in the semi-finals of the Uganda Cup is no mean feat. It's not everyday that teams play the semi-finals," he added.

"In the 25 years of this club's existence, we have only been here twice so it's something I am proud of and there's nothing to be ashamed of."

The last time Bright Stars played the final of the Uganda Cup, they went all the way to the final, where they eventually lost to Proline FC.

Arguably one of the best run clubs in the country, their fanbase will hope the club can build on the recent ascendency to compete more.
