With the league now done, head coach Asaph Mwebaze has had to deal with swirling rumours linking him to the now vacant head coach role at the Lugogo-based club, which he has dismissed, stating that he is still contracted to Bright Stars.
Soltilo Bright Stars’ curtain in the 2022/2022 StarTimes Uganda Premier League season came down with a 5-0 thrashing to KCCA FC on Saturday at the MTN Omondi stadium.
With the league now done, head coach Asaph Mwebaze has had to deal with swirling rumours linking him to the now vacant head coach role at the Lugogo-based club, which he has dismissed, stating that he is still contracted to Bright Stars.
“No, I cannot talk about that, I have a three-year contract with Soltilo Bright Stars,” Mwebaze told Pulse Sports.
“And I have only done a year; I still have two more left, so I don’t know what is happening at KCCA FC. I am focused on preparing my team for next season,” he added.
It should be noted that the Kasasiro Boys are back in the market again, looking for a head coach after Jackson Mayanja’s interim reign ended.
Mwebaze and Bright Stars have a mountain to overcome in the Stanbic Uganda Cup, they trail Vipers 4-0 on aggregate ahead of the return leg in Kavumba.

SUPL Soltilo Bright Stars take a jibe at KCCA FC ahead of the final league meeting
Asaph Mwebaze's side have managed two wins against the Lugogo-based side and are targeting to complete a league double over KCCA FC when the two sides meet in the final league game of the season on Saturday.
“I wouldn’t blame them (doubters), 4-0 is a big score line, and it’s going to be a hard task, but it’s football; anything is possible; you just never know what happens.”
“We’re going into the game positive and to give it our best and see what comes out,” Mwebaze noted.
The second leg is scheduled for Tuesday at the Kavumba Recreation grounds.
Soltilo Bright Stars, who last reached the domestic cup final in 2019, finished ninth in the league with 35 points, one place and a point behind Wakiso Giants FC.
