The reigning most valuable player reminded his early competitor for the golden boot Nicholas Mwere of his abilities with the four that took his count to 13 in just six outings.

Baker Lukooya stepped up his golden boot race over the weekend with another haul as St. Lawrence tamed Wolves at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.

The reigning player of the year reminded his early competitor for the golden boot Nicholas Mwere of his abilities with the four that took his count to 13 in just six outings.

Sulaiman Ochero added a brace, Jonathan Kikonyogo and Martin Kikambi both had one to supplement Lukooya’s effort as the Saints consolidated their summit spot with eighteen points from six games.

Abandonment

On the other side, Mwere was disadvantaged as Jinja Lions' clash against Grace Church was abandoned after the latter failed to make minimum numbers to finish the game.

Grace had travelled with only three players but one got injured forcing the referees to abandon the game on technicalities.

“The match between Grace Church and Jinja Lions was abandoned because the former couldn’t raise enough players to continue with the game after one of their three players present for the game was injured in the first minute of the first period,” the FUFA Beach Soccer League competitions department confirmed.

The rules allow a minimum of three players for a match to go on. Grace lost the match by forfeiture and Jinja Lions awarded three points and as many goals.

The Lions retain their chase with 15 points same as Mutoola who beat Buganda Royal 7-4.
