The Super Falcons last won the African Women's Nations Cup in 2018, and since then, the country has been unable to dominate African football.

Madugba remains optimistic about the team's future, noting that his passion is to help the Super Falcons win the WAFCON next year.

"Don’t worry, one step at a time, we are on course. God willing and that is one of our objectives," the coach told Punch.

The Former Adamawa Queens coach added that his goal is to build a solid Super Falcons team that will dominate Africa for a longer time.

He said, "My goal is to do well with the team, build a solid lasting team that will regain our top spot, play football with passion, develop players and win the 2025 WAFCON as short-term goals. In the long run, we want to dominate and compete effectively with respect at the global stage to be rated highly."

Ahead of the WAFCON, set to take place in Morocco from July 5 to July 26, 2025, the Super Falcons have been placed in Group B, alongside Tunisia, Algeria, and Botswana.

Nigeria has historically dominated women's football in Africa, winning the tournament nine times.
