Naija Stars Abroad is a weekly dive into Nigerian players and their football exploits across the world of football.

It was another action-packed weekend for Nigerian players across the major leagues in Europe, but Alex Iwobi stood tallest with a sensational display for Fulham despite their 2-1 defeat at Wolves.

The Super Eagles playmaker scored a late consolation - his fifth Premier League goal of the season, eclipsing his previous best tally ever.

Iwobi also created seven chances, made seven key passes and crafted one big chance in an all-action performance at Molineux.

Fulham missed out on the chance to make it three wins in three in the PL, but for Nigeria’s Iwobi, it was another solid and historic outing on a personal note.

In Germany, Nathan Tella continued his excellent campaign by heading Bayer Leverkusen into a lead they wouldn't relinquish against Wolfsburg.

The Nigerian Eagle's fifth Bundesliga strike helped the league leaders take another step towards a historic first title.

Fellow Bundesliga star Justin Njinmah netted his sixth of the season but couldn't prevent Werder Bremen's 2-1 home loss to Borussia Dortmund.

While in Turkey, former Enugu Rangers man Ibrahim Olawoyin scored his fourth goal of the campaign, though Rizespor were thrashed 6-2 by Galatasaray.

Wingback, Bright Osayi-Samuel came off the bench to help Fenerbahce thrash 10-man Pendikspor 4-1 in the Super Lig.

In 45 minutes, the 26-year-old completed the most dribbles in the match and was the most accurate passer, with 95% of his passes completed.

Elsewhere, the likes of Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Taiwo Awoniyi, Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, Terem Moffi and Moses Simon all drew blanks for their respective clubs.

Olisa Ndah enjoyed a memorable Soweto derby success as he captained Orlando Pirates to a 3-2 victory over Kaizer Chiefs.

But there were injury concerns for goalkeeper and newly called-up defender, Stanley Nwabali and Gabriel Osho, who were withdrawn for Chippa United and Luton respectively.

In Scotland, Cyriel Dessers failed to add to his 12-goal haul for Rangers as they were held to a stalemate by Hibernian while little Ibrahim Sunusi fired CF Montreal to win away from home in the MLS.

Nigeria's only representative in the Spanish LALIGA, Umar Sadiq, ended a run of 20 matches without a goal in Real Sociedad's 3-2 victory against Granada.

Player of the Week

Despite several eye-catching performances, Iwobi's excellence at Molineux ensured he claimed the Nigerian Player of the Week award ahead of Tella, Olawoyin, Njinmah and others.
