William Troost-Ekong believes the Super Eagles will bounce back stronger despite falling short of winning their fourth AFCON title in Cote d’Ivoire.

Troost-Ekong was named AFCON 2023 player of the tournament after his excellent displays, including 3 goals that propelled the Super Eagles to the final against hosts Ivory Coast.

Unfortunately for the PAOK man, his strike in the final was not enough, as Jose Peseiro's Super Eagles collapsed, giving away two goals to lose 2-1.

Troost-Ekong thanks Nigerians, promises to bounce back

Despite the setback, the Nigeria vice-captain has thanked the fans for their unwavering support and promised that the team would bounce back even stronger.

Taking to social media, Troost-Ekong wrote "Naija thank you! I love you. No words can justify the feeling of losing a final.

"I’m proud of our team, our nation, our spirit; heads up, keep trying, we will soar again. Congratulations CIV,” the defender wrote on his official X handle.

The 30-year-old defender has been linked with big-money moves on the back of his performances at AFCON 2023, and it will be interesting to see where things go from here.
