The Simba Wa Nairobi have won four of their last league matches, which puts them in a good place to achieve their targets of securing a top-half finish.

Nairobi City Stars  head coach Nicolas Muyoti has praised his team for their recent defensive improvement after they overcame Bandari propelling themselves to seventh place with 21 points in the ongoing FKFPL season.

Stars secured the victory with a goal from Robinson Asenwa in the fourth minute of the match and displayed determined defensive prowess for the rest of the game. The clash took place at a packed Ruaraka Grounds on Saturday afternoon.

The result now means Simba Wa Nairobi have won four of their last league matches, which puts them in a good place to achieve their targets of securing a top-half finish.

Muyoti, a former AFC Leopards and Harambee Stars player, has revealed his pride at seeing his charges concede fewer and fewer chances per game.

“I want to thank God and the players for the effort they put in,” Muyoti said. “We came here with a plan and I am very happy it worked,” he added.

“We have been conceding a lot of chances and goals, but I am happy that over the last few games, we have not been conceding alot and we have defended very well.

“I think this is something that we are going to build on and as we look into the forward matches coming up, I think defensively we are getting the confidence, so I am very happy.”Meanwhile, Muyoti is aware that his charges are far from perfect and are not counting chickens, opting to take it “match by match”.

“When we started the season, we said we would go match by match, we planned for this match. Every team is coming differently to us and we just have to have a game plan to make sure that we are able to get some points out of the matches we play.”

City Stars have come a long way this season, making amends from their blip last season when they scrambled for relegation survival having gone through a period of transition after a bulk of their squad was decimated.

They are now on coure to achieve their targets of securing a comfortable mid-table finish and possibly replicate their 2021/2022 season when they finished fifth in the table.
