The official is hopeful that the club can turn into a competitive side despite their struggles in the 2022–23 season.

Nairobi City Stars Chief Executive Officer Patrick Korir has revealed their objectives after preserving their Football Kenya Federation Premier League status.

Simba wa Nairobi have won just eight games this term but are assured of keeping their place for the next season. Mathare United and Vihiga Bullets were relegated, while Wazito will strive to remain in the top tier through the playoffs.

Despite not having an impressive season, Korir is confident City Stars can challenge for the Premier League title and even build their brand across the continent.

"Over time, we want to challenge for the title and spread our brand to the African continent. My best and most memorable season? This one. It's been tough, and it's taught so many lessons. We had to try so many things, both on and off the pitch," Korir said.

"The patience we have had to show this season, with ourselves and our philosophy has gotten us to safety and picked up lessons for everyone on the team".

The football administrator also singled out one of their players, whom he says has been a key figure in their 2022–23 season.

"I think Kelvin Etemesi is the epitome of our season. Zero goals in the first leg, shaky confidence up to a point that almost everyone resigned to fate. Then boom! 12 goals in 13 games," he explained.

While discussing City Stars' objectives, Korir looked back at their journey in the National Super League and how they managed to return to the Premier League.

"Nairobi City Stars were 19th in the table, and we needed to avoid relegation. We got a new coach, we made organizational changes, and we survived," he recalled.

"We won the 2020 season with a ten-point buffer against second-placed Bidco, even with the interruptions of COVID-19, and came to the Premier League, where we belong. We have structures to ensure that we have long-term sustainability.

"That involves a 'clean' brand; honouring players' and staff contracts, on-field and off-field discipline; and conducting our business above board. Getting a sponsor at this stage is possible, and given Jonathan has spent over Ksh200 million on this project, it's about time."

In their final game of the season, City Stars will play against Gor Mahia in a match that carries a lot of stakes as far as the title race is concerned.
