Napoli are reportedly preparing to make a move for Arsenal defender Takehiro Tomiyasu this January transfer window, and the North London side are said to be open to listening to offers.
Serie A heavyweights Napoli are reportedly setting their sights on Arsenal's versatile defender Takehiro Tomiyasu. In a bid to strengthen their defensive line-up next month, the Italian club is eyeing several options, with Tomiyasu emerging as a primary target.
Napoli's defensive dilemma has been compounded by the injury to Natan and the suspension-induced necessity to play Juan Jesus at left-back. This situation has reduced their centre-back options, prompting an urgent need for reinforcements.

Arsenal's stance and other prospects
Reports from Il Mattino, relayed by Cn24, highlight Tomiyasu as a key interest for Napoli. Arsenal, it seems, are open to the idea of a loan deal for the Japanese defender, who has prior Serie A experience with Bologna. This move could be an ideal solution for Napoli's current predicament.
However, the situation is less straightforward with other names on Napoli's shortlist. Arsenal's Jakub Kiwior is another potential candidate, but the Gunners might be less inclined towards a loan. Atalanta's Giorgio Scalvini is also in the mix, but his acquisition would come at a hefty cost for Napoli.
Alternatives and `risks
Napoli's radar also includes Tottenham target Radu Dragusin. Despite this interest, Alberto Gilardino, keen on retaining the Romanian defender, is likely to be a stumbling block for a January transfer.
Sparta Prague's Martin Vitik is another name under consideration. Yet Napoli is wary of the risks involved in a mid-season signing, especially with the stakes so high in their current campaign. They're cautious about making a move that might disrupt their team's dynamics.
This story comes up after Pulse Sports reported a quote from Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis, in which he accepted responsibility for the Partenopei's struggles this season, and promised to bring in reinforcements this January transfer window.
