He was subsequently named the league’s best striker for the season, becoming the first-ever African to win the award in Serie A’s 125-year history.
Osimhen reacted to a question from Pulse Sports Nigeria on the award during his time in Lagos.
Responding to the question, the 24-year-old described it as a huge one for him but quickly added that it was never his target.
“It feels good, this is a huge one for me,” Osimhen said during a media timeout in Lagos.

But of course, to see that it was becoming a reality to become the best (African) striker in the history of Serie A, then, i started to like put two things in my head - to win the scudetto first, the priority of the clubs, fans and also for me, then, secondly, to make history with this.”
Speaking further on his feat, Osimhen added that he feels good and happy with what he had achieved but believes records are there to be broken.
