Victor Osimhen's time at Napoli appears to have come to an end, with the Partenopei willing to let the Super Eagles striker leave this summer
According to Italian outlet Il Mattino, Victor Osimhen’s time at Napoli is coming to an end, with owner Aurelio De Laurentiis ready to accept offers for his wantaway striker.
After ending a 33-year wait for a Scudetto, De Laurentiis was ready to gamble last summer, as he tried to keep hold of as much of his title-winning team as possible.
Napoli’s Scudetto champions leaving one after the other
However, Luciano Spaletti, the architect behind their first league title since Diego Maradona, departed after a disagreement with the owner.
Bayern Munich met Kim Min-jae’s release clause, leaving gaps in defense. Despite significant interest from Paris Saint-Germain and a rejected €130 million offer from Saudi Arabia for Osimhen, Napoli now faces the prospect of losing the striker.
De Laurentiis' stance on Osimhen’s future
De Laurentiis is now ready to cash in on Osimhen after a poor season filled with injuries and tension, potentially accepting an offer below the striker’s €120 million release clause.
De Laurentiis had been preparing for Osimhen's departure since last summer, anticipating moves to Real Madrid, PSG, or an English club.
The Napoli president is quoted as saying, “That’s why the contract negotiations were so drawn out and amicable… but we knew perfectly well that he would go Real Madrid, to PSG or to an English team.”
What next for Osimhen?
While Real Madrid appears focused on securing Kylian Mbappé, PSG and an undisclosed English team, likely Chelsea or Arsenal, who have both expressed interest are potential destinations for the striker.
While Chelsea has shown keen interest, reports suggest that PSG is Osimhen’s dream move. However, with negotiations ongoing and various clubs vying for his signature, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain as the summer transfer window approaches.
